Retrograde Arcade was founded by Jimmy as a hobby with the aim of giving a little bit more disposable income at the end of each month. Trawling through local car boots, house clearances and charity shops, he was able to source sought after video games and toys from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s and sell them online through ebay.
Growing up with Cystic Fibrosis meant that when the pandemic swept across the globe, he was forced to enter shielding and when he was also furloughed, he chose to focus all of his attention on developing the business further and expanding the categories of the store to include card games, LEGO and clothing. As well as an established customer base in the UK, the brand also has a loyal following in Europe, America, Canada and Australia.
Having had support from the CF Trust and the Helen Barrett Award, we now have plans to continue pushing the business forward. We aim to look beyond the ebay online selling platform and strive to create our own online presence where we can offer our customers the same quality service. With the reduction in selling fees and no minimum price restraints we can also offer our range of products at a more affordable price.
